Northeast Forest Soils Conference 2007
Cloquet, Minnesota - Thunder Bay, Ontario
- July 29th to August 3rd 2007

The integration of forest sciences with policy and planning has been increasingly important in many jurisdictions. The demand for integrated soil and silviculture science information in planning and setting policy will likely increase as the market and social demands for certified forest products increase and the public becomes more aware of the requirements for evaluating sustainability (i.e. criteria & indicators). Yet, the capacity for organizations to provide these needs rarely keeps up with the demand. This conference is aimed at showing:

  • how soil and silviculture sciences have shaped practice and policy in Minnesota, Wisconsin and Ontario,
  • what the priorities are in our science strategies and
  • how a partnership is forming across borders to provide efficiency in research for effective policy.
